Rev. Kevin Gooding was born in Columbus, Ohio, but grew up in St. Albans, West Virginia, where he was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church. After graduating from St. Albans High School in 1983, Rev. Gooding attended Ohio University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology. Answering a call to ministry that he first heard in college, he then attended United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, where he earned both Masters of Divinity and Masters of Arts in Religious Education degrees. However, the most important event of those years may be his meeting and marrying Rev. Jennifer Johns-Gooding in 1990. He and Jennifer were ordained as Deacons in 1992 at which time he was appointed to serve as associate pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church in Morgantown. In 1995 they received their Elders Orders. Six years after moving to Morgantown and two children later (Colin and Catherine), Rev. Gooding was appointed as senior pastor of Concord United Methodist Church in Athens, West Virginia in 1998. During their time in Athens, the Goodings welcomed their third child, Rebekah, in 2000. In 2003 the Goodings moved to Indiana where Rev. Kevin could work towards a PhD degree in American History at Purdue University. He is scheduled to graduate in May from Purdue
